"My Summer as a Goth" Benefit Party at the Hollywood Theatre

I was invited to the Friday Night Benefit, where supporters and film crew alike attended in their best Goth outfits and Halloween costumes, showing everything from Vampires to sharply dressed Steampunk. I had the opportunity to sit down with the writers and producers to learn more about this new film.

Now two years in the making and seventeen re-writes later, Tara Johnson-Medinger (Director/Producer) and Brandon L. Roberts (Writer, Producer and Director) recently opened up a Kickstarter program in an effort to begin generating financial support for the film. In less than one months time they not only met their Kickstarter, but surpassed it (their Kickstarter ends on October 31st, 2011). Tara told me that she wasn't sure what to expect from the Kickstarter when she first put it out there, it was more of an effort to see what kind of support there was for the film and the response was more than she ever expected. This outreach and support from the local Portland community gave Tara and Brandon the assurance they needed to move forward with the film project.
