Tim Burton ~ Gallery Exhibit & Film Series in NYC
"When it comes to surprises in the moonlit night, I excel without ever even trying... the Pumpkin King with the skeleton grin."
The Museum of Modern Art in NYC, will be hosting a major exhibition retrospective of the deeply varied art forms of one of our generation's most prolific darkly twisted masterminds, Tim Burton. In addition to a film festival celebrating the surreal grandeur of his imagined worlds caught in moving imagery, there will be displays of his illustrations ranging from sketches made in early childhood to works created as a student, all the way to his present day creations. Other highlights will include paintings and storyboards as well as costumes, props and even puppets! This shall be a rare insight into the vast depth and artistic range of Mr. Burton's sinister creativity and a rare glimpse into that twilight world which can be found lurking in the shadows of his mind ~ a world that he's been generous enough to share with the the world through such films as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleepy Hollow, Sweeney Todd and more, including the soon to be released and much anticipated adaptation of Alice in Wonderland which seemed destined to be seen through Tim Burton's directorial eye.
The exhibit opens to the public on November 22, 2009, and runs until April 26, 2010. If you should be lucky enough find yourself in New York City anytime during those dates, be sure to attend this once in a lifetime display and treat yourself to the works of this dark genius within.
