Heavy Red's Dark Winter Wonderland

Like a warm, lingering embrace, Heavy Red has returned to the goth fashion scene producing an infusion of rich satins and dark illusions.

When speaking with the lead designer for the new line, Tyler Ondine, Gothic Beauty magazine inquired about any new perspective she might have gained while away.  "I left Heavy Red over a year ago.  I have evolved as a person and a designer.  With razor like focus for my new vision I am back with Heavy Red and am once again consumed with fashion.  Since releasing my first new collection this fall I have intertwined the beauty of infernal sorrow with the beauty of dionysian aspirations," says Tyler.  "I think the new winter line especially captures the romance of tragic love.  The rich fabrics and colors accentuate the deep emotions that coarse through our human veins."

heavy red3.jpgThe new winter line is reflective of obvious circus influences while employing traditional street fashion and asian influences.  GB asked Tyler what her own personal perspective was when creating this line.  "You will notice in this collection many more buckles, straps, corseted panels and restraints, as seen in our new coats and shirts.  These materials symbolize a broken and guarded heart.  Truth appears to me in many shades of black as well as rich colors.  I think [the] theme of Heavy Red has always been clothing with an elevated and sophisticated sexuality - gothic clothing that re-invents the pomp and circumstance of dressing to thrill and woo by giving it a modern edge while retaining the classic lines and fit of sculpted attire.  I like to take fits and styles from different eras, corsets from Victorian times, shirts and coats from Edwardian times, glitz and shine from the 20's, fit and femininity from the 40's, decadence from the 80's and so forth."

Tyler cites her various inspirations from a wide variety of locales.  "I find inspiration in Paris, Tokyo and of course my home, Los Angeles.  I am planning to bring back a full line of men's wear in the spring.  We can't spend all our time making women beautiful and then give them nothing to play with.  My true passion for corsets will bring about the most irresistible collection yet."

Heavy Red has much on its plate in the year to come with expansion and aspirations of lavish fashion shows in foreign ports of call.  "There is so much to look forward to.  We are opening a new store in Germany, we are set to launch our new spring line with a fashion show in Tokyo!"

Heavy Red embodies something different in each heart.  Tyler summaries its appeal and her own unique twist on the attire it provides.  "I am creating looks with many layers, both for versatility and decadence.  I like to create basic pieces which can then be combined to create your own individual style and declaration.  Each line I release is a wardrobe which can be mixed and matched to create a veritable palette of unique jaw dropping ensembles.  Women trust me to dress them, and I cherish that opportunity."

I am so impressed with your outlook for the line. Everything you said about the inspirations from the Victorian and edwardian times along with the influence of the 10's, 20's, 30', and 40's is exactly my style in itself!! I am an aspiring fashion designer and my outline for my line is based completely upon these time periods. Absolutely beautiful
