Gothic Beauty Magazine celebrated the release of Gothic Beauty Box 59 and Gothic Beauty Magazine 59 with an evening of artists, thrift curation, handmade crafts, community spirit, cool giveaways, excellent coffee, and even carnivorous plants, at the Desert Goth Club alt fashion popup Goth Clothing Exchange in Tucson on April 18, 2026. Screwbean Brewing provided the perfect backdrop for our gothic gathering. One of the most heart-warming things was how many attendees at this family-friendly event were parents who grew up with Gothic Beauty Magazine and owned vintage Lip Service (before it was vintage) now getting to share our culture and community with their teens just getting into it.
The Tucson community brought its full range of dark and distinctive style. As the afternoon faded into night, there was a showcase of the breadth within gothic fashion worn and brought to trade or sell: floor-length black column gowns and sleek maxi dresses, bold black-and-white striped off-shoulder tops cinched with wide ring-hardware belts, lace-up sage corsets layered over flowing skirts, and graphic band tees tucked into cargo pants and distressed cut-offs. Vivid hair in electric green, deep copper auburn, and rich magenta stood out, while studded and multi-hole belts, choker necklaces, platform boots, heart-shaped crossbody bags, and sleeve after sleeve of expressive tattoo work rounded out looks. Dark and near-black lip colors anchored the makeup across the board, and a showstopping black fringe dress with a lace choker, displayed on a mannequin at one of the vendor tables, captured the evening’s spirit in miniature.
Gothic Beauty Magazine 59 features Chain Cult’s sustainable chainmail designs by Meri Lujan, the baroque floral artistry of Arcane Arrangements by Charles Berger, a gothic Salem vow renewal, and a Lip Service editorial showcasing their signature strappy black PVC and hardware. The issue also includes an exclusive interview with the band Solar Fake, plus spotlights on Pixel Grip, Dove Cameron, Ministry, and Yungblud and more.
The release party was made possible by sponsors Lip Service, the legendary LA-based pioneers of gothic, punk, and rock fashion since 1985; Dark Asteroid Pretty, creators of the viral sensation Ghostly white foundation and luxury alternative cosmetics; LashyDoodle, makers of the ultra black pressed powder Doom Dust goth makeup essential; and Zinetastic, the independent publishing platform that distributes Gothic Beauty Magazine and the Gothic Beauty Box.
Gothic Beauty Magazine Issue 59 is available now in print and digital editions, and as part of the Gothic Beauty Box, at Zinetastic.com.
